    The Doctor Is In

    The menace of multiculturalism
    by Suzanne Fields (9/15)
It's not easy to dislodge a trendy fad, particularly among the public intellectuals and the aspiring sophisticates of the chattering class, but 'multiculturalism' may be getting an intellectual re-examination.

    Poor Al
    by Emmett Tyrrell (9/15)
The very day he spoke a congressional task force reported that the levees that failed in New Orleans would have been raised higher and strengthened in 1996 by the Army Corps of Engineers were it not for a lawsuit filed by environmentalists led by who else but the Sierra Club.

This is an example of what I referred to earlier about hasty and misguided efforts to find fault and lay blame in the Katrina aftermath.  Many areas related to the scenario need to be investigated and revealed; there are many pieces to the puzzle.  Jumping the gun to describe the picture in the puzzle without all the pieces in place as all the media sources have done misleads the public.  Here's one little piece to add to the mix.  Might the damage and chaos have been lessened if the liberal environmentalists of the Sierra Club not intervened?  Extremism really irritates me.  I'm all for protecting the environment.  I don't want to see the Amazon rain forest decimated for lumber; that would be an environmental and ecological disaster, not to mention the fact that it would destroy resources there (such as medicines, for one example) that are yet to be discovered and tapped.  And I don't like seeing our forests go up in flames.  Selective and careful clearing and thinning, which enviornmentalists oppose, would help save millions of acres as well as provide jobs.  I suppose that makes me an environmentalist, but not a liberal, fanatical, extremist.  Worry less about the chipmunks in the forest having to move next door (or next brush pile) and think about the trees and lives lost in a forest fire.  I won't even get into the inconvenience a herd of moose might face by being forced to walk around an oil pipeline support pylon.  Enjoy paying 3 bucks or more for a gallon of gas; the moose will thank you for it.  The Sierra Club may have succeeded in saving the mosquitoes and wiggly muck crawlers the inconvenience of being dislocated by a bigger and stronger levee.  The whiny, liberal environmentalists won't even recognize much less accept responsibility or feel remorse for the part they played in causing the dislocation of human beings.  Feeling the love for chipmunks and wiggly muck crawlers shows what a caring person you are.  Humans?  Screw 'em.  My, my how the King of Babylon do babble on!

Good Article on post-Katrina by Ollie (My Main Man) North

This article by Oliver North is very insightful and well-written, as are all his essays and editorials.  Also check out the site of the organization he founded and sign up for the e-mails  http://www.freedomalliance.org and Dr. J-J thanks you!

    Katrina Questions
    by Oliver North
The Congress has questions about Katrina. The Congress wants their questions answered – now! To satisfy the insatiable curiosity of people like Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, congressional hearings are now being scheduled...

Hmm, the link to the article didn't work.  Must be an MSN anti-conservative conspiracy!  You'll find the article on the site given above.

Dr. John-Juan Told You So: Bush plans Katrina probe, to seek more funds - Hurricane Katrina - MSNBC.com

Bush plans Katrina probe, to seek more funds - Hurricane Katrina - MSNBC.com
See?  I said to be patient and that there would be investigations of the recovery efforts.  Of course, they had to ruin the article by mentioning Nancy Pelosi--glory hound, fly in the ointment, pain in the neck, obtuse and obnoxious, and way more Babylon than yours truly.  And if you check out the article notice that the reader rating is a very low "2."  Why do you think that is?  Because it shows President Bush in a favorable light--heading the effort, leading the way, breaking down bureaucratic barriers, and seeking answers and governmental efficiency.  A lot of the reading public is gullible and naive and allows the biased, liberal media to think for them.  Bash Bush, good article.  Praise Bush, bad article.  But then, you have Dr. J-J, the King of Babylon, to stir things up a bit!

    Newsweek: What Went Wrong

The Lost City - Newsweek Hurricane Katrina Coverage - MSNBC.com
The headline was "Newsweek:  What Went Wrong" but again the blogger changed it.  I put the title back to what I wanted to comment about this time.  I read US News & World Report also last night.  All the news sources are getting repetitive, redundant, monotonous, boring, and irritating with the same old song--what went wrong.  So many negative vibes, man!  Such negativity is not productive; it's counter-productive.  It would be more appropriate to focus media time, attention, and resources on the positive, constructive, productive, helpful.  It would be better to direct attention to the needs of those affected by the disaster.  After those in need are cared for and the debris as well as "the air"  is cleared then and only then would be the time to concentrate on "what went wrong."  That exercise should not be to assign blame but to correct deficiencies and avoid errors in the future.  Dr. J-J

Why is the relief effort taking so long? - Connected Coast to Coast with Ron Reagan and Monica Crowl

Why is the relief effort taking so long? - Connected Coast to Coast with Ron Reagan and Monica Crowl
Take a look at this guy's interview questions for a good example of the naive (read "stupid") comments.  Why don't we bring in big ole convoys of trucks with lotsa stuff?  Well, that would be because the transportation infrastructure is comprised, that means blocked with debris, etc., (under breath, you dip wad).  Oh.  Well, how 'bout we drop tons of food 'n' stuff from choppers?  You hit people in the head and kill them (you ding dong).  The responder could have also mentioned--drop food into what?  A contaminated, disease-infested cess pool.  Sounds healthy and appetizing to me.  Great suggestion.  Taking arm chair quarterbacking and Monday morning coaching to new levels, aren't we?  I grow so impatient with those who have no expertise in a specific area but offer plenty of criticism and stupid suggestions as if they have all the answers.  Dr. John-Juan

Why the poor stayed in New Orleans - washingtonpost.com Highlights - MSNBC.com

Why the poor stayed in New Orleans - washingtonpost.com Highlights - MSNBC.com
This answers the criticism so many had--the "government" is not doing enough to get those people out of there.  It's hard for people with no money to get out.  I would have walked the 10 miles (from downtown NO) to the Jefferson Parish relief area.  But that's just me.  And maybe the folks on the scene didn't know to go there.  It's difficult and time-consuming to rescue tens of thousands of people.  It would take 10,000 helicopters for that operation to take place in a day or so.  No nation has that many in one place at one time.  And even if you did, you couldn't have that many in the air at once.  They'd crash into each other.  Then we have today's news showing that many people in New Orleans don't understand the health risks of staying and refuse to leave.  But a quick fix and overnight results are what is naively expected by many who comment on and criticize the disaster response.  Comments casting blame and criticizing the recovery effort by media talking heads,  political pundits, politicians, and foreign governments continue and they are, as I said, naive.  That's just a polite word for stupid.  Dr. John-Juan

Storm exposed disarray at the top - washingtonpost.com Highlights - MSNBC.com
A lengthy article with a lot of comment.  Some of it is criticism and opinion based on incomplete information or knowledge of the facts.  The article posted below this one points out that no all the disarray is "at the top."

Dr. J-J on: White House shifts blame for Katrina response - washingtonpost.com Highlights - MSNBC.com

White House shifts blame for Katrina response - washingtonpost.com Highlights - MSNBC.com
This article reminds those who criticized President Bush and the federal government for the chaotic response to the disaster that these matters are in the hands of state and local officials.  Apparently, even as the feds tried to assist, Gov. Blanco of LA and the mayor of NO resisted.  Other reports I've seen and read indicate the LA national guard and NO police refused assistance from other states or the feds.  There are hours of reports on TV and dozens of articles on the web--an overwhelming amount of information.  It will take months to sort it out and create a clear picture of the situation.  There's a lot more for the King of Babylon to babble on about in this one article, not to mention all the other news.  For now I'll close with this--for all those who are supporters of state's rights:  put a bunch of local yokels in charge and "Katrina Kaos" is what you get.  Dr. John-Juan

Was FEMA ready for a disaster like Katrina? - Nightly News with Brian Williams - MSNBC.com

Talking about Hope that ‘we’re turning the corner’ in Orleans - Hurricane Katrina - MSNBC.com

Hope that ‘we’re turning the corner’ in Orleans - Hurricane Katrina - MSNBC.com
I'll be commenting later; be patient.  You know me.  I am King Babylon.  I am Sir Talksalot.  Naturally, I'll babble on and have a lot to talk about regarding the Katrina chaos.  But later.  I prefer to wait for the situation to settle, the scenario to play itself out.  Making hasty, knee-jerk, gut reaction comments is neither informative nor productive.  I don't want to heap praise where it's not due, nor make criticisms that are unwarranted.  An art critic shouldn't comment on a painting that is partially finished; a literary critic can't issue an appropriate value judgement on a novel after reading only one chapter; a movie critic's opinion of a partially-viewed film is meaningless.  The talking heads, political pundits, mainstream media, and the general public should wait before issuing misplaced praise or misguided criticism.  Information on and an understanding of the events of the complete picture is needed first.  Dr. John-Juan

    Great articles from Townhall.com:

The writers below are all great social & political scene commentators.  Me?  I'm just a common "tater."

Vegetable oil and tours of 'duty'
    by Oliver North (7/29)
The wilted flower child who firmly established her place in American history when she mounted a North Vietnamese anti-aircraft gun has decided it's time to teach a whole new generation to blame America first.

    When Justices refuse to retire
    by Jeff Jacoby (7/28)
Because the Constitution provides no retirement age for Supreme Court justices, whether Rehnquist stays or goes is entirely up to him.

     C-Log:  More public school naivete
Former teacher Jack Pflug has put forth one of the most convincing arguments I've heard yet for drastically reducing the omnipotence of America's public schools. Only there's one catch: the examples he cites in his op-ed are used to defend government-subsidized education.

    Will we defend ourselves?
    by Walter E. Williams (7/27)
Much ado in our country and Europe has been made about alleged mistreatment and torture of suspected terrorist prisoners.

    Confirming John Roberts
    by Brent Bozell (7/27)
Journalists walk around with the knee-jerk assumption that they are the most essential forces of democracy, there to enrich the nation and its citizens.

Beware of strange men with rocket launchers
    by Michelle Malkin (7/27)
Thankfully, military watchdogs on guard against Islamist terrorists with rocket launchers know better than to stop Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan look-a-likes with Louis Vuitton pet carriers strapped around their shoulders.

    Failures of intelligence
    by Jeff Jacoby (7/27)
Three weeks before the London bombings of July 7, Britain’s Joint Terrorist Analysis Center advised policymakers that 'at present there is not a group with both the current intent and the capability to attack the UK.'

Dick Durbin's evolving standard of decency
    by Terence Jeffrey (7/27)
Russert put Durbin on the rack last Sunday, torturing the poor man with his own contradictory words.

    This is a war, blockhead
    by Ben Shapiro (7/27)
Yes, we would all prefer to ride the subway without the hassle of having security employees rifling through our bags. But most of us would also prefer not to be blown up, and if that entails having some uniformed city worker check my backpack, so be it.

    Dubya's school reforms pay off

Good Read by Heritage Foundation--US Industrial Base

The Heritage Foundation is my favorite source for articles on current social and political issues.  Their information is well-researched and thoroughly documented and the articles are written coherently.  Try this one, for example, visit their site, and sign up for email newsletters for many more important, interesting topics.

What kind of legislation is needed to ensure that the U.S. military is supported by an adequate industrial base in the 21st century? A simple question, but even pro-national security Members of Congress cannot agree on a solution.

Over the course of the past year, The Heritage Foundation has undertaken a major study on pressing military industrial base issues. One result is clear: free markets best serve America's defense needs and freedom. But that's only the beginning.

The study starts with today's industrial base and how it evolved and runs through the issues and concerns of a global industrial base. It develops a set of principles to guide legislators and describes how to put them into practice.

This report is vital reading for any policymaker working on industrial base or military issues.

Rice heads Forbes' list of most powerful women - Business - MSNBC.com
Dr. Rice is in an appointed position that automatically makes her the most powerful woman in the USA and international political scene.  Regardless of the political appointment, she has earned and deserves the position of leadership and the top spot in the most powerful listing.  I receive emails from the US Govt. info service giving all her speeches, interviews, etc.  Fascinating!  This woman knows her stuff!  Look no further than Condi Rice for Secretary General of the UN.  She would turn that corrupt, useless organization into an effective, lean, mean machine for the good.  Better yet, Dr. J-J hereby nominates Secretary Rice as a candidate for President of the United States of America!
